Attempted Vehicle Burglary

Details: On Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 12:19 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2100 block of Lake Isabella Avenue regarding a male subject who was seen breaking into a parked vehicle. The male suspect was last seen running to a white Chevy Blazer parked nearby. The Blazer then drove away from the scene by another subject. Officers were able locate and stop the suspect vehicle in the 2700 block of Sherman Avenue. The driver, identified as Bobbi Jo Blair, and passenger, identified as Robert Manuel Velasquez, were detained pending further investigation. Officers made contact with the residents who called from the 2100 block of Lake Isabella Avenue and 2100 block of Kern River Avenue. These witnesses saw a male subject attempting to break into two parked SUV vehicles by punching open the driver side door handles with a pry tool. A clothing and physical description were provided of the male suspect and the description matched Velasquez. Velasquez was arrested and also found in possession of burglary tools and approximately 28.9 grams of Methamphetamine. Velasquez was charged with two counts of attempted vehicle burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, tampering with a vehicle, vehicle vandalism, possession of burglary tools, transportation and possession of a controlled substance. A records check showed that Velasquez was also recently wanted by Hanford PD for two counts of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime. Velasquez was booked at the Kings County Jail and is being held on $280,000.00 bail. Blair was arrested for two counts of attempted vehicle burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, transportation and possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled substance. Blair was booked into the Kings County Jail and is being held on $90,000.00 bail.
