In the event of minor debris flow, the City’s Public Works Department will work through the week to clear the streets to facilitate local access and emergency vehicles. If necessary, a more in depth clean up, facilitated by the City’s contractor Sully Miller, will continue through the week as well.
The City of Duarte always encourages residents in the Fish Fire Impact area to prepare BEFORE the storm. Unfilled sandbags and sand are available at the Los Angeles County Fire Station Department 44, located at 1105 Highland Avenue in the rear area 24/7.
Up to Date Information: The City strongly advises all residents to sign up for FREE Duarte Nixle alerts. For text alerts, simply text “DUARTE” to 888777. For email alerts, visit www.nixle.com. Fish Fire Impact Area Storm Info; Duarte Moves to Yellow Alert Level Starting at 11:00 pm Tonight
The National Weather Service had advised the City that a storm will affect the community Sunday night through Monday with periods of moderate rain totaling 0.5 to 1.50 inch with potential for rainfall rates to move to up to one half inch per hour. Additionally, there is a chance of moderate to strong winds with gusts 30 to 50 mph. Rain chances continue through Tuesday into Wednesday morning. This storm may be intense enough to create mud and debris flows in recent burn areas. Currently, Los Angeles County Public Works has issued a No Phase Debris Flow Forecast.
In response to this information, the City of Duarte’s Fish Fire Impact Area is moving to the Yellow Alert level starting today at 11:00 pm. In preparation for tonight, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will notify vehicle owners on Melcanyon only to move their vehicles off the street starting at 11:00 pm. Temple Station will provide patrols through the night while it is raining to monitor the area. Duarte Transit will also not be in operation in the Fish Fire Impact Area on Monday. No street closures are anticipated at this time.
Duarte Unified School District is encouraging Valley View parents to utilize Deerlane for drop-off and pick-up in anticipation of the storm and to also follow the District’s social media and website for up to date information.
Until Monday morning, residents are encouraged to contact Temple Sheriff’s Station for emergency and non-emergency requests at 626-285-7171. Starting Monday at 7:30 am, both Duarte Public Safety and City Hall will be open for information.

- Intermittent street closures may occur to facilitate clean up and equipment mobilization.
- Affected Residents, notified door to door by City, will need to move a vehicle outside of the impact area.
- Rain-related parking restrictions in effect.
- Residents directed to remove vehicles, trash bins, and other obstructions from streets and/or travel lanes, as they will be subject to tow or removal by authorities.
