Deputies arrest David Montoya for mail theft

LOCATION: Mesa Drive / Cabrillo Drive, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): David Montoya, age 31
VICTIM(S): Multiple
SUMMARY:
On February 3, 2017, at approximately 7:00 a,m, sheriff's deputies from the Victorville Station were dispatched to the area of Mesa Drive and Cabrillo Drive, for a subject who was removing mail from several mailboxes. Deputies contacted a subject in the immediate area, who was identified as David Montoya. Montoya was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. During the investigation, Montoya was also found to have several pieces of mail and forged checks on his person. Deputies contacted several victims, who indicated Montoya did not have permission to possess their mail or personal checks.
Montoya was transported to the High Desert Detention Center for booking. During the booking process, Montoya was found to have suspected methamphetamines hidden on his person. Montoya was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for the possession of forged checks and suspected narcotics.
