Details: On Saturday, January 28, 2017, at approximately 12:30 PM, Corcoran Police Officers responded to the intersection of Orange and Letts Avenue for a report of shots fired and a subject down in the area. Officers arrived and found a man down in the 1500 block of Apperson Court. Jonathan Rivas, 24, was found unresponsive and did not survive injuries he suffered as a result of a gunshot wound. Corcoran Police Officers, assisted by the Kings County Gang Task Force, contacted several witnesses to an altercation between two subjects in the area. Based on the investigation officers were led to a residence located in the 1700 block of Tennent Avenue where Erik Patino was arrested without incident. A search of the residence was conducted and investigators located a firearm believed to have been used in this homicide. Patino was booked into the Kings County Jail on charges of Murder and a Gang Enhancement. Patino is currently being held without bail. This homicide is believed to be gang motivated and the investigation is ongoing.
