Gas Leak Press Release

At approximately 2pm on Sunday, 1/29/17, a motorist was parked in a parking lot in the 600 block of Ward St.  The driver accidentally placed the vehicle in drive while the vehicle was running and struck a gas meter.  PG&E was not able to shut the gas off at the source.  A digging crew was called out to dig up and pinch the gas line.  PG&E requested a 2 block street closure during the incident.  The 600-700 block of Main St was evacuated. The leak was capped at approximately 3:30 PM  and  all areas were opened up except the 600 block of Ward St and the Alhambra Plaza due to crews continuing to work.  No injuries were reported during this incident and the driver was evaluated and found not to be intoxicated.  As of this press release, all areas have been opened up.
