Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are assisting Alhambra Police Department with investigating the circumstances surrounding an Officer-Involved Shooting. The incident occurred on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 7:25 p.m. on the 2900 block of West Main Street, Alhambra.

Detectives have learned that a woman called 9-1-1 to report a disturbance between her, her husband and their adult son, at their residence. The caller stated that her son was possibly armed with a gun.

Alhambra Police officers responded, and as they neared the location, they heard multiple gun shots near the residence.

When the officers positioned themselves across the street from the suspect’s residence, the suspect shot several rounds at them, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect, male Hispanic, 25 years-old, was struck by the officer’s gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Neither of the officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire.

Investigators have learned there were two officers who shot their weapons. Both Alhambra officers were wearing body cameras, and a review of the video footage will take place as part of the investigation.

As with any Officer-Involved shooting, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has responded to the scene to do an independent investigation.

A shotgun and a revolver, believed to have been used by the suspect at the location, were recovered.

Both of the suspect’s parents were unharmed by gunfire.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are assisting Alhambra Police Department personnel with an Officer Involved Shooting investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, January 27, 2017 at approximately 7:50p.m. Investigators are responding to the 2900 block of West Main Street, Alhambra. 

The suspect was struck by gunfire and is in unknown condition.

No officers were injured.
