Riverbank, CA - On 01/24/17 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Riverbank Police Services deputies responded to El Sumeri Market located at 6132 Terminal Ave for a report of a woman on the ground in front of the business. When deputies arrived they found a 39 year-old woman lying on the ground with multiple injuries. She was transported to the emergency room for treatment.
The victim told deputies that a subject known to her as 23 year-old Miguel Angel Soria Jr of Ceres kidnaped her from in front of a residence in Ceres Ca. Soria Jr. threatened her with a weapon and sexually assaulted her before driving her to the El Sumeri Market in Riverbank. The victim was able to get out of the suspect’s vehicle at the market and tried to escape. Soria Jr. struck the victim with his car and then fled the area.
On 01-27-17 at 12:05 p.m., Modesto PD officers found Soria Jr. driving his car on East Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto at a high rate of speed. They followed him to Terminal Avenue and Plainview Road in Riverbank where they made a traffic stop and Soria Jr was arrested .
Miguel Angel Soria Jr. was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, sexual assault and kidnaping.
