SBPD NOW Accepting Applications for Spring 2017 Citizens’ Police Academy - Starts March 7th

South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka announced today the department is now accepting applications for the Spring 2017 Citizens’ Police Academy. The ever popular Academy offers a behind the scenes look at policing. Since being reinstated in 2015 nearly 75 participants have graduated from the Academy. Chief Hayducka said, “The feedback from community members who have attended the Academy has been tremendous. They come away feeling better informed and more connected to our department and community.”

The Academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law, and use of force.  In addition citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactic and internal affairs.  The academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises were students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes, and other realistic scenarios.  The academy will start on March 7th .  Classes will be held every Tuesday night in the training center at police headquarters for 11 weeks, with a week off over Spring Break, from 6:30pm-9:30pm.

The Academy is free, but space is limited.
