Advisory

Storm Advisory Update - Monday Storm - High Wind Advisory, Heavy Rain. 40-55 mph winds and 2 inches of rain.

South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management Director Chief Raymond Hayducka and Township Manager Bernard Hvozdovic are issuing the second advisory for a storm expected to impact our region Sunday night and all day Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch and a Storm Watch for our community in advance of the storm.

WEATHER THREAT: Storm Bringing Heavy Rain & Gusty Winds
TIME PERIOD: Monday 7AM-10AM thru Monday 6PM-9PM

What to Expect:
Coastal storm is the focal point of the forecast as it looks to bring significant rainfall and high winds Monday. Rain develops from south to north later in the morning on Monday, but winds will begin to increase overnight tonight before rain even arrives. Heaviest rain gets going toward 7AM - 10AM, and this rain gets heavy at times thru the afternoon.

Winds at peak will be sustained to 20-30 mph with some 40-55 mph gusts at times, highest thru the morning and early afternoon.

Roadway and poor drainage flooding is still a high likelihood given totals of 1.5 - 2.25" in a relatively short period of time (even some embedded thunderstorms could enhance the rainfall locally).

Rain winds down to showers between 5PM and 8PM Monday evening, with gustiest winds also diminishing thru the night.

Actions to Take:
Secure all loose items in and around your property.

Prepare for potential power outages. High winds may take down branches or trees onto power lines causing power outages.
