As you may have seen on the news recently, there has been an increase in burglary to motor vehicles in the northern suburbs. The Frankfort Police would like to make you aware that the offenders have been targeting businesses where people may run in and out quickly, and businesses where people may leave their valuables inside of their car.

The best way to protect yourself from these types of crimes is to always lock your vehicles doors and to never leave valuables in plain sight (specifically purses, briefcases, etc.). In some cases, vehicle windows have been broken when the offenders viewed an unattended valuable on the inside. Be especially cautious when dropping off your children at school/daycare center, at gas stations, work out facilities, or anywhere you may leave valuables in your car for convenience. In other words, even if you are running into a location for just a minute that’s all it may take for you to be victimized.
