Lock It or Lose It

The City of Sun Prairie has seen a trend of burglaries recently. Officers are investigating a series of incidents where the suspects are looking for open garage doors. The suspects enter through the open garage; on occasion, entry has been made to the homes using through the unlocked service doors. These incidents are taking place during the overnight hours, however, this does not mean it couldn't happen during the day.

The Sun Prairie Police Department would like to remind its citizens of the following Lock It or Lose It safety tips:

1) Make sure your garage door is closed when not attended. An open garage door is something that can be easily observed from the street. Also, locking the service door is a good habit to get into.

2) Keep your car doors locked. Whether parked in the street, your driveway, or your garage, locked doors deter thieves.

3) Please remove all valuables from your vehicles. Someone can't steal what isn't there.

Following these tips will keep your belongings safe
