WEAPON VIOLATION: Man arrested for weapon charges following road rage incident
On January 14, 2017 at 6:38pm, the Middleton Police Department was informed of a weapons violation at the intersection of Donna Drive and Park Street. The caller stated there was a physical altercation between two men in the intersection and one male had a gun.
When Officers arrived on scene, the gun had been taken away from a male identified as Andrew B. Bilek, 22, of Middleton. Officers later discovered the incident had stemmed from a road rage incident involving Bilek’s girlfriend and the victim, a 54 year old male.
The victim had been walking his dog in the crosswalk on Donna Drive when he was almost struck by a vehicle driven by Bilek’s girlfriend. Bilek confronted the victim and the two got into a physical altercation. Bilek retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and pointed the gun at the victim. The victim was able to gain control of the gun and had a passerby contact police.
Bilek was later transported to the Dane County Jail and charged with First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Reckless use of a Weapon while under the Influence of an Intoxicant and Disorderly Conduct while Armed.
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and the at a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
