Frankfort Police would like to warn our local businesses of reports of people passing fake/counterfeit Travelers Checks at local businesses. The scam consists of the person coming in and usually picking out an inexpensive item and trying to pay with a Travelers Check so that they can get the remaining amount in cash from the store. Always check for authenticity before accepting these checks. This link gives some tips in detecting fake Travelers Checks. If you have any concerns or if someone tries to pass a check please contact Frankfort Police.
