Rick McCubbin selected as the next Chief of Police

The Shepherdsville Police Department is pleased to announce that Rick McCubbin has been selected to succeed Douglas Puckett as Chief of Police.  Mayor Curtis Hockenbury’s appointment of McCubbin was confirmed last night by a vote of the Shepherdsville City Council. Chief McCubbin brings with him nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience. Chief McCubbin began his career with the Louisville Police Department in 1987.  In 2002, Chief McCubbin accepted appointment as the U.S. Marshal for Western Kentucky where he served for 8 years.  McCubbin also served as the Chief of Police in Bardstown from 2011 to 2016.

Chief McCubbin has earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville in the Adminstration of Justice as well as a master’s  degree from the American Military University in Criminal Justice.  Chief McCubbin is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s 108th Administrative Officers Course.  Additionally, Chief McCubbin is an adjunct professor at Elizabethtown Community College.

Chief McCubbin will take over as Chief of Police effective February 1, 2017.
