Cerritos Staton Deputies Arrest Two Males in a Stolen Car

On January 9, 2017, at approximately 9:54 p.m., Cerritos Station deputies responded to the 12400 block of Miles Street, regarding a suspicious person walking toward a white BMW parked on the street.

A responding patrol unit with an Automated License Plate Recognition alerted on the BMW as having a stolen license plate affixed to it as it drove onto Miles street.  The driver of the BMW exited the vehicle as the patrol unit approached and fled on foot.  Deputies approached the BMW, discovered two additional suspects inside, and detained them.  A search of the area for the fleeing suspect was unsuccessful.

An investigation into the ALPR alert on the vehicle resulted in the discovery that the vehicle was reported stolen out of the city of Baldwin Park.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of possible stolen property (mail, tools, construction equipment, back packs, garage door openers, etc.)  The property is believed to be from the cities of Cerritos, Arcadia, Temple, and Baldwin Park.

The two suspects were placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle, possible stolen property, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.  They were transported to and booked at Lakewood Sheriff Station.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Sergeant Gilbert Ramirez at (562) 860-0044, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), or text the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637,) or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.
