The National Weather Service reports for the San Francisco and Peninsula Coast, this afternoon and through the rest of the evening, it will be breezy, rainy, and there will be a slight chance of thunderstorms. Rain may be heavy in the evening, gusts might go up to 50 mph, and showers will be likely after midnight. The coastal flood advisory is in effect until noon on Thursday. Flash flood watch and a wind advisory is in effect through late midnight. We encourage everyone to stay indoors.
Please make sure you have everything securely tied down in your yards. There is also a potential for trees and power lines to fall down without warning. Please use caution when near areas of trees.
The City of Daly City is still offering sand bags for free. Residents are limited to 10 sandbags each. A self-serve sandbag station will be accessible 24 hours a day at the parking lot adjacent to the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant at 153 Lake Merced Boulevard. When filling sandbags, fill them only half way, so they are not too heavy to lift and will stack properly. You may also obtain pre-filled sandbags at the Public Works Corporation Yard located at 798 Niantic Avenue—Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Residents are limited to 10 sandbags.
If you must go outdoors, please be very careful when driving through areas of standing water. If it starts to flood, many resources will already be stressed and will be unavailable.
During the storm, if there is any concern for public safety, i.e. tree down, electrical pole concerns, major flooding, etc., please don’t hesitate to call us using 911 for emergencies and using 650-991-8119 for non-emergencies. If there is a power outage, please call PG&E at 800-743-5000. Please do NOT dial 911 to ask when the power will resume.
