...AN AREA OF MODERATE SNOW WILL AFFECT NORTHERN MARYLAND...EASTERN
WEST VIRGINIA...AND THE NORTHERN SHENANDOAH VALLEY...

At 841 AM EST, an area of light to moderate snow was located along a
line extending from near Waynesboro to 8 miles south of Berryville.
Movement was east at 35 mph.

Snow will continue along the Interstate 81 corridor through 10 am. A
half inch to one inch of snow accumulation will be possible in
communities such as Winchester, Hagerstown, and Martinsburg. 

In addition, areas of snow will be crossing the Blue Ridge and
Catoctins and approach the northwestern suburbs of Washington DC and
Baltimore. While the overall trends are for the band of snow to be
weakening, localized accumulations of a quarter to half inch will be
possible. 

Locations impacted include...
Germantown, Centreville, Frederick, Gaithersburg, Reston, Leesburg,
Hagerstown, Winchester, South Riding, Herndon, Westminster,
Martinsburg, Damascus, Front Royal, Broadlands, Lansdowne, Lowes
Island, Brambleton, Strasburg and Thurmont.

Although accumulations may be minor, any snow on roads can result in
icy roads and hazardous driving conditions.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
