Storm Warning!
According to the National Weather Service, this storm is far from over. A Pacific storm system will move through the area starting tonight and Tuesday and will result in heavy rains and strong to gusty winds during the afternoon and evening. Rainfall could be locally heavy with the potential for flooding. In the coastal areas, the King Tides will impact the coastline and waterfronts Tuesday through Thursday.
The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a wind advisory which will be in effect from noon Tuesday to midnight on Tuesday night. This will make for the potential of downed trees and power lines, not to mention difficult driving conditions. Please take caution when near areas of trees, as the trees can come down without warning.
To help residents prepare for the storm, the City of Daly City is providing residents with access to sand bags. Residents are limited to 10 sandbags each, free of charge, while supplies last.
A self-serve sand bag station will be accessible 24 hours a day at the parking lot adjacent to the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant at 153 Lake Merced Boulevard. When filling sandbags, fill them only half way, so they are not too heavy to lift and will stack properly.
We encourage everyone to stay indoors and drive only if it is necessary. Be very careful when driving through areas of standing water. If it starts to flood, many needed resources will already be stressed and will be unavailable.
During the storm if there is any concern for public safety, i.e. tree down, electrical pole concerns, major flooding, etc. please don’t hesitate to call us using 911 for emergencies and using 650-991-8119 for non-emergencies. If there is a power outage, please call PG&E- 1-800-743-5000/ Outage info 1-800-743-5002. Please do not dial 911 to ask when the power will resume.
