Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a Hispanic male. The shooting occurred in the 3800 block of Whittier Blvd, unincorporated East Los Angeles, on Sunday, January 08, 2017, at 2:20 a.m.  
 
Homicide detectives have learned East Los Angeles station deputies responded to Indiana Street and Whittier Boulevard regarding a “shots fired” call.  When deputies arrived, they checked the area for any suspicious activity and found a bloody trail on a sidewalk which they followed into an apartment building. The deputies found a Hispanic male lying on the stairwell inside the apartment building, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso
 
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
No weapons were recovered at the scene and it is unknown if the shooting incident is gang-related.
 
There is no suspect(s) description at this time.
 
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available.
