Raymond Adams of Barstow is arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking

LOCATION: Kelley's Market, 44230 National Trails Hwy, Newberry Springs
SUSPECT: Raymond Adams, 29 years old, resident of Barstow
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On January 7, 2017, at about 7:59 am, the 28 year old victim was at Kelley's Market in Newberry Springs attempting to get gas for his vehicle. While the victim was paying for his gas the suspect, Raymond Adams who is known by the victim, approached the victim from behind. The suspect stabbed the victim and then began punching the victim multiple times. The suspect then took the victim's vehicle and fled from the location. California Highway Patrol Officers and Sheriff's Deputies began searching the area for the vehicle and suspect. They located the vehicle and suspect near the Daggett area stopped on the side of the roadway after the vehicle automatically shut off. The suspect was positively identified by witnesses and placed under arrest for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking. The victim was transported to the hospital and was in stable condition.
