Hello Mountain View,

As we are sure you have all heard, this weekend is expected to bring some extremely wet weather. We've been tracking storm information as well, and we wanted to just send out an advisory to all to ensure that you had the most updated information possible, including shelter information and where sandbags sites are scheduled to be placed.

Mountain View is projected to see a couple inches of rain over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. There are two shelter locations in Mountain View: the Senior Center, located at 266 Escuela. Their hours are 8:30 am to 9 pm Monday through Wednesday and 8:30 am to 5 pm Thursday and Friday. The Community Services Agency, located at 204 Sterling Road, is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Residents in need of sandbags can head to the City's Municipal Operations Center, located at 231 North Whisman Road. Please remember to bring a shovel to fill your sandbags. Additional questions about sandbags can be directed to City staff at 650-903-6329.

If you see flooding or standing water over the next week that is impacting traffic or causing road and safety hazards, call the Public Services Division at (650) 903-6329 to report flooding or standing water during normal business hours. After hours or on weekends, call the City’s Emergency Communications Center at (650) 903-6395.

To report downed trees and tree limbs during normal business hours, call the City's Forestry and Roadway Landscape Division at (650) 903-6273. After hours or on weekends, call the City’s Emergency Communications Center at (650) 903-6395.

Also, some safety reminders if you are out and about with the weather this weekend:
1. Do not walk through flooded or flowing waters
2. Do not drive through a flooded area
3. Do not drive around road barriers -- they are out there to clearly mark where an area is flooded
4. Stay away from power lines and electrical wires that have fallen down. Call us immediately.
5. Look before you step. Floors and stairs that have been covered
with mud can be very slippery
6. Be aware that power outages may happen, but avoid using candles, lanterns or open flames unless you know the gas has been turned off and the area has been ventilated in case there may be a gas leak
