UPDATE: On January 2, 2017, an autopsy was performed by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on the body found in the Rock River the previous day. The body was positively identified as the previously reported missing person, Jordan White of Janesville. There were no signs of external trauma to the body. The investigation is ongoing pending additional tests through the Medical Examiner’s Office.

On 01-01-17 at approximately 3:04pm the Janesville Police Department received a call advising a boater located a body that was partially submerged in the Rock River off what would be the 1400blk of Afton Rd.

Janesville Police Department officers, with the assistance of the Janesville Fire Department, recovered the body of what appears to be an adult male from the water.

At this time a positive identification of the body has not been made. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30pm. Additional information will be released once the autopsy is complete and a positive identification is made.
