UPDATE: Death Investigation-Lustig Park Reopened

On 01-02-17 at approximately 11:25am Janesville Police Department officers were sent to Lustig Park after a citizen who was walking in the area discovered a body near the river.

Officers discovered a deceased adult white female approximately 40 yards off the river bank on the west end of the park. The investigation into this incident is ongoing however, preliminary findings do not indicate any suspicious circumstances surrounding the victims death.

There was identification found on the victim however, the victims identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.

An autopsy is scheduled tomorrow at 12:30pm

Lustig park is currently closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The Janesville Police Department is conducting a death investigation.
Citizens should avoid the area. When the park is opened another Nixle will be sent.
