Be Safer in 2017-register for Williamson County Citizen Alert System

Several years ago, the City of Franklin began using Nixle to keep you informed on various emergency or important community information. This service allowed Fire and Police to notify citizens of important and timely emergency information. Over the course of its use, Nixle made some changes to the format and features which caused a reduction in its use by the fire department. Recently, the department as begun assessing the benefits of the service in conjunction with other "alerting" methods.

Within the past year, the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency began managing an enhanced version of an alerting service called Everbridge for citizens of Williamson County including the cities of Brentwood and Franklin. In addition to "reverse 911" for landline phones, residents may opt-in with their mobile phones numbers and email addresses to receive timely emergency information.

Even if you previously subscribed to Nixle for the City of Franklin, you need to register/update your information with the Everbridge system to be included in the Everbridfge notification process. This will be one of the most reliable sources of emergency information in a time of crisis. Do not rely solely on your previous subscription to Nixle to receive emergency notifications.

To be safer in 2017, visit and complete the registration process. It only takes a few minutes and could help you or your family receive important information and/or instructions in an emergency.

For more information about Everbridge, contact the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency at (615)-790-5752.
