***DON'T BE AN EASY TARGET: LOCK YOU CAR***

Like every city, there is always an increase in vehicle burglaries this time of year. However, the majority of these offenses can be contributed to easy targets or a window of opportunity being presented to a thief. The Red Oak Police Department is urging its citizens to lock your car doors and not to leave valuable property in your vehicle. Many surrounding cities have observed a spike in vehicle burglaries and believe that much of this increase can be attributed to transient groups passing through our communities preying on our citizens.

When we investigate these offenses, we pull surveillance video from everywhere we can to identify suspects. We have viewed plenty of video where these thieves travel from car to car just pulling doors. IF YOU CAR IS LOCKED, THEY DON'T HANG AROUND! We are urging our citizens to lock your car doors and not to leave valuable property in your vehicle.

We firmly believe that these offenses can be greatly reduced if we work together with our community partnerships. In short, secure your property and call us if you see something that doesn't seem right.

Have a blessed day and call us if you need us!
