Parks Bureau, a Season of Giving #LASD @ParksLASD @PalmdaleSheriff @LANLASD @LACOUNTYPARKS

During this Holiday Season the gift of giving is in the air, especially when it comes to the less fortunate ones.  When you work in Law Enforcement you see so many people who are struggling and you want to help, but many times you just can’t.  This is the time of year when it’s completely acceptable and encouraged.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau has been playing Santa Claus all over the Antelope Valley this year and today is no exception.  Parks Bureau North Zone personnel distributed over 50 toys and six meals to families in the northern county area on Sunday, December 18, 2016.  24 children were recipients of the gifts, donated by members of the Parks Bureau North Zone team.  Candidates to receive the gifts were suggested by Department of Children and Family Services as well as by Parks and Recreation staff.  One grateful family invited those delivering the goods to share Christmas cookies which they had prepared especially for the visit.  Sergeant Dan Burdick, who assisted in the deliveries, commented, “I was especially impacted by a single mom who was raising five girls in a small apartment.  Even though it was crowded and a little hectic, the children all had smiles and knew they were loved.  I know what it’s like to raise five daughters and it’s not easy!”

On, December 22, 2016, deputies from the Parks Bureau Special Problems Team (SPT) will assist detectives from the Special Victims Bureau who will visit two homes in the Antelope Valley.  The detectives were touched by two special children, a brother and sister, who were taken into protective custody and then separated as they were placed in two different Foster Homes.  The detectives felt it necessary to make sure they were taken care of during this difficult Holiday season so they pooled their money with the SPT members and purchased gifts for all of the children in both Foster Homes.  You don’t want to leave anyone out!
