Christmas Joy for Multnomah St. Elementary Sch, Deaf & Hard of Hearing Students, @EBILasd Men’s Central Jail #

On Thursday, December 15, 2016, deputies and custody assistants from the Education Based Incarceration (EBI) Unit at Men’s Central Jail delivered toys to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program (DHH) students at Multnomah Street Elementary School in the City of Los Angeles.  The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program is comprised of twenty six students ranging from 3 to 11 years of age.

Each student received a bag filled with toys and other goodies; the girls in the program also received dolls constructed by the female inmates at Century Regional Detention Center (CRDF).  In addition to the dolls, deputies and custody assistants from the Education Based Incarceration Unit at CRDF donated more toys to make this event a bigger success.

Principal Asavasopon tearfully thanked the EBI Staff and remarked, “no one has ever done something so thoughtful for her students.” Principal Asavasopon posted additional photos of the event on the school website. http://www.multnomahelementary.org/deaf-and-hard-of-hearing.html

Special thanks to EBI Sergeants Art Vargas, and Alex Gamboa, Deputies Herb Aguirre and Jessica Rosas, Custody Assistants, Santos, Stark, and Towner, for their toy donations and coordinating this very special event for the DHH students at Multnomah Street School.  Deputy Aguirre is an alumni of Multnomah Street School and still has ties to the community.
