Deputies locate narcotics during a traffic stop; Driver fled on foot and later arrested

INCIDENT: HS 11379- POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE FOR SALES
PC 69- RESIST AN EXECUTIVE OFFICER.
LOCATION: A Street/Front Street, Needles
SUSPECT: Andrew Whiting, 43 Years old, Lake Havasu City, AZ
SUMMARY:
On December 21, 2016 at 11:00 p.m. Deputy Nicolas Yates conducted a traffic stop in the area of A Street and Front Street in the City of Needles. Deputy Yates made contact with the driver, identified as Andrew Whiting, and after a records check it was determined that Whiting had a suspended Arizona drivers license. During a search, a methamphetamine pipe was found in Whiting's pocket, and as deputies began to search Whiting's vehicle he fled on foot. Deputy Yates pursued Whiting on foot and located him hiding in the backyard in the 200 block of Bazoobuth. Whiting refused to follow commands and assaulted Deputy Yates. After a brief struggle, Whiting was taken into custody. During a search of Whiting's vehicle, approximately 90 grams of methamphetamine was located. Deputies also located a digital scale, measuring spoons, syringes and cash in small denominations. Whiting was transported to the Needles jail and booked for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales and Resisting Arrest. Bail has been set at $50,000.
