The Ponca City Police Department has requested OSBI investigate a fatal officer-involved shooting at the West Grand Valero. The police department received a 911 call just after 6 a.m. reporting a man was assaulting a delivery man with what appeared to be a tire iron. Minutes later, multiple officers arrived at the scene. Still armed with a weapon, the man confronted officers. Officers shot and killed the man. The delivery man was transported to a local hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. OSBI special agents are at the scene gathering information and evidence. Once the investigation is complete, agents will give the district attorney a comprehensive, written report. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified.
