#LASD - Lancaster Detectives make Arrest in Social Media Threat to Antelope Valley High School
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lancaster Station detectives made an arrest in the threat to Antelope Valley High School on social media.
Lancaster Station deputies responded to a call for service regarding a threat to Antelope Valley High School on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 1100 hours. The call was made after a parent became aware of the threat via social media.
During their investigation, the deputies discovered the suspect was a former student at the high school. He was attempting to recruit students to participate in his plan. The suspect was planning to acquire weapons and attack students at the high school at a future date. The high school is currently on winter break and there was no immediate threat or danger to any students or staff.
School resource deputies and detectives responded to the suspect’s residence on the 43400 block of Gadsden Avenue, Lancaster. The suspect was detained without incident. At his residence deputies located written messages detailing the suspect’s intentions and they also discovered items which could be used to make explosive devices.
Suspect Diavauni James Crooms, a male Black 18 years-old, was transported to the Lancaster Station Jail and booked on Attempt Murder charges for his threats. He is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
