Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deputy-involved shooting and the details in the 911 call that compelled deputies to the 900 block of La Verne Avenue, East Los Angeles, in the early morning hours on Saturday, December 17, 2016.
 
Homicide detectives learned East Los Angeles deputies were dispatched to the location in response to a “Gunshot Victim” call. Further information from the call indicated that someone was shot at the location.
 
When deputies arrived at the residence they entered to investigate and encountered a man armed with a shotgun and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.  Two deputies fired their weapons and struck the suspect who was then transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries.    
 
There were no deputies injured at the residence.
 
A shotgun was recovered at the scene.
 
The identity of the suspect will be withheld pending next of kin notification.
 
Detectives are still working towards confirming whether someone was shot at the location prior to their arrival.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to the 900 block of La Verne Avenue, East Los Angeles, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a Deputy-Involved Shooting.

The suspect was struck by gunfire, and transport to a local hospital in unknown condition.                                        

No deputies were injured.
