“GOODS FOR GUNS-No Questions asked”

GREEN BAY POLICE TO HOST GUN BUYBACK INITIATIVE

Event: “Goods for Guns” – Illegal and unwanted Gun Buyback Program

Location: SAMS Club – West, 2470 W. Mason St. Green Bay WI – parking lot

Date: Saturday, December 3, 2016 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Description: Gun ownership is a tremendous responsibility. Members of the Green Bay Police Department are committed to responsible gun ownership. If you are in possession of an illegal weapon, or you have a gun and do not feel you can keep it locked, unloaded and inaccessible to children, let the Green Bay Police Department dispose of the gun(s) for you.

“Goods for Guns” is a safety initiative designed to take illegal (stolen, fully automatic, sawed-off, etc.) and unwanted firearms off the streets. Green Bay Police Officers will be in the lot of Sams Club accepting operable guns which citizens would like to dispose of. No questions asked!! Turn in your operable gun and receive VISA gift card totaling up to $50.

This program is funded by the Brown County Crime Prevention Foundation. The Green Bay Police Department received a $2000 grant to implement this in the community.

Green Bay Police will also accept: non-operable guns, live ammunition, and firearm accessories (no VISA cards issued). We will be providing gun locks free of charge, even if you are not turning in a gun. Anyone turning in a gun will not be asked any identifying questions, anonymity is ensured!

IMPORTANT: All guns must be unloaded and wrapped in a bag or case. Participants are encouraged to pull up to the Green Bay Police Department Command Post with the gun(s) in the trunk. Officers will remove the gun(s) from the vehicle and then provide the gift card(s).
We encourage the media to attend the event. If any media outlets want to broadcast live from the event, a PIO will be available. Please make your arrangements through Capt. Warych.
