______________________________________________

A female graffiti suspect caught on camera defacing historical landmarks in Downtown Los Angeles has been identified and arrested.

On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers assigned to Hollenbeck Division were patrolling the area of 1st Street and Soto Avenue in Los Angeles when they detained the suspect for possessing an open container in public.  During the “open container” investigation, the officers immediately recognized the suspect as the female sought in connection for spray-painting and defacing several historical Los Angeles monumental landmarks.

LAPD officers subsequently contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), at which point LASD County Services Bureau personnel investigating the case responded and positively identified the suspect as the female caught on camera defacing the landmarks.

The suspect, 37 year-old Victoria Jayne Bay, a Caucasian female and transient of Los Angeles, was arrested for Felony Vandalism.  She was transported and booked at Century Regional Detention Facility and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

LASD would like to thank the public and the media for several investigative leads received from viewing and sharing video surveillance of the crime through news broadcasts, social media platforms, and simply just by saying something.

The booking photo of Suspect Bay is not available at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
