On Saturday, November 19th, the annual PV Marathon will be taking place. For the past twenty years, the City of Palos Verdes Estates has coordinated this half marathon. Although this event starts in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, the marathon enters Palos Verdes Estates at the south city limits (2900 PV DR West) and traverses through the City of Palos Verdes Estates. In the past, marathon runners were allowed to utilize the entirety of Paseo Del Mar which created increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic to the area of Lunada Bay in the areas of Paseo Del Mar and the 2900 block of Palos Verdes Dr West. This year, participants will be running in a designated running lane (coned) on the most westerly side of Paseo Del Mar.

A total estimate of 1000 runners are expected to participate in the Palos Verdes Half Marathon. This influx of runners is expected to last approximately 5 hours (0600-1100 hours). It is also expected that once the marathon begins there will be an additional influx of spectators.

Though no major traffic issues are expected, motorists should be aware that delays may be possible when driving in this area. See the attached map for the exact race route.
