The Voorhees Police Department is currently looking for local families in need for their annual Holiday Fundraiser. Each year, the department chooses 2-3 families who have encountered financial difficulties and need help making this holiday season a memorable one. With contributions from local businesses and residents, we shop, wrap and deliver gifts and food to the chosen families. As always, we couldn’t do it without your continued support and generosity. 

We currently have chosen 2 families to help. The first family is a Voorhees family of 4. The father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma (a primary brain cancer). He started radiation and oral chemo a couple of weeks ago and is unable to work. Although, he is receiving disability, it is based on a percentage of his salary. Unfortunately, 50% of his salary is based on commission, and disability insurance does not cover commissioned salary. With the out of pocket expenses, the bills have begun to pile up. The second family is a single mother with 3 children. Although, she is working, she is having trouble paying her rent and utilities, not to mention necessities and Christmas presents. 

In addition, we will be looking for 1 or 2 more families to help. If you believe you know of a family who could benefit from our program, please submit a letter indicating the families need and reason for the need. After careful consideration, we will choose the families we believe will benefit the most. Please provide the number of family members and their ages in your letter. 
As always, I will collect the children’s wish lists, shop, wrap, and we will deliver all the gifts on December 24th (or before) with the help from officers and the Voorhees Fire District. With lights, sirens and lots of love, we deliver something they will surely never forget. If needed, we also supply the families with Thanksgiving dinner as well.
