Advisory
Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives stood alongside family members of a victim at a press conference today, and made a plea for public assistance in obtaining any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of a Llano business man. As an incentive, a $20,000 reward was presented, offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).
The investigation began around 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, when Palmdale Station deputies responded to the victim’s home, located in the 26200 block of East Avenue W-8, in Llano, an unincorporated community of Los Angeles County. The house was ransacked, and the wheelchair-bound victim was found with his hands and feet tied, and suffering a bleeding head injury.
The victim, Glen Brittner, a 59-year-old father and grandfather, was medically treated at the scene, then airlifted by Sheriff’s rescue helicopter, Air Rescue 5, to a local hospital and listed in critical condition. He lived in a coma for ten days before succumbing to his injuries on Friday, August 28, 2015.
Prior to the crime, Victim Brittner was a motivated entrepreneur. He owned and operated a water supply company from a warehouse built on the same multi-acre property as his home; he was a fixture in the Llano area and lived there for 30 years. Since being widowered 18 years ago, he lived alone but found happiness in camping with family, mastering engineering projects and music. Glen was an educated person who studied Biological Science and graduated from the University of Southern California.
One of Victim Brittner’s sons, Derek Brittner, spoke at the press conference. When asked about his soon-to-be-born second child, he said, “My wife…is pregnant with our second child, who’d be Glenn Brittner’s second grandchild, due on Christmas this year.”
“It’s unfortunate to all of us that he doesn’t get to see our family grow through my brother and my sister, as well,” he lamented.
