On November 13, 2016 Los Altos police officers responded to the 400 block of Torwood Lane to investigate a suspicious person reported by an alert citizen. Officers contacted two suspects who were in possession of stolen mail and drug paraphernalia. There were several open mailboxes in the area. The suspects were arrested and ultimately released on citations.
On November 16, 2016 it was determined that the individuals initially identified in a press release, on November 15, 2016, were misidentified and are actually victims of identity theft. Neither of the individuals identified in the initial press release have any involvement in this case.
Los Altos officers have been in contact with both victims and detectives are actively investigating two suspects for identify theft. If anyone has any information, which might assist with this investigation, please contact the Los Altos Police Department Detective Bureau at (650) 947-2770.
