Arming citizens with information is one of the best tools to combat crime. Providing information to the public and maintaining the integrity of investigations have always been challenging. Nonetheless, it is important to share what we can. A component of our Records Management and CAD software allows us to share the majority of our activity while still maintaining the confidentiality with those cases that require it. “Citizen RIMS,” as it is referred to, gathers information from our CAD and RMS system and puts it into a report that is available to the public. It includes Calls for Service, Crime Reports, Officer Initiated Activity and more. It allows the user to perform crime analysis with the click of a mouse and also shows activity in your neighborhood or parts of the community that may be important to you. By going to http://corpd.crimegraphics.com/ you will be at the Crime Map & Log page. On that page you will be able to sign up for alerts. By signing up you can choose to receive an email report daily or weekly. You can also navigate through the page to check on current or past activity as well as Warrants, Most Wanted, Stolen Vehicles etc. We are hopeful that this will give community members and visitors information that ultimately makes them safer. Also, look out in the future for upgrades to this software that will allow you to submit vacation “house checks” and voluntarily registration of surveillance cameras amongst other things.
