The El Cerrito PD is announcing a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the death of Mr. Gilliland.
The ECPD has been actively investigating the shooting death of Mr. James G. Gilliland since October 27, 2016.
Today, we are announcing that a private donor (who wishes to remain anonymous) is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the death of Mr. Gilliland. We hope this reward will encourage anyone with information to immediately come forward.
We have not yet established a motive. We have not yet obtained any information about who has committed the crime. Some local private surveillance video has been given to the department, but there is no way to know if it is of value to this investigation as of yet.
The victim's family has requested that the public and media not contact them during this difficult time.
We encourage anyone with information to immediately come forward and contact the El Cerrito Police Department at 510-215-4400, via email at [email protected] or by leaving a voicemail message at 510-215-4414, extension 40.
A Press Information Officer will be available to speak at the El Cerrito Public Safety Building, this morning at 11 AM.
