Incident: 23152 (A) CVC – D.U.I./Traffic Collision
Location: North McDowell Blvd. at East Washington Street
Suspect(s): Tabitha Zeigler, 23 year old female from Sebastopol.
Summary:
On the listed date and time the Petaluma Police Department received a call of a traffic collision on North McDowell Blvd. north of East Washington St. officers arrived on scene and located a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup in the southbound lanes of North McDowell Blvd. and a 2012 Mini Cooper which appeared to have collided with the rear of the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Cooper was identified as Tabitha Zeigler a 23 year old female from Sebastopol who was located outside the vehicle. When officers spoke with her she showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Those included poor balance, being lethargic and having difficulty answering questions. Zeigler had been southbound approaching the rear of the Chevrolet which was stopped in traffic at a red traffic signal when she collided with the rear of the stopped pickup. The driver of the Chevrolet was a 30 year old male from Petaluma.
Due to Zeigler showing signs of possibly being under the influence of a controlled substance officers had her perform field sobriety tests. Zeigler performed poorly on these tests. Officers had her perform a Preliminary Alcohol Screening Test which showed she had no measurable amount of alcohol in her system. Based on Zeigler causing the collision into the rear of the pickup, her signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and performance of the FST’s she was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
Zeigler submitted to a blood test at Petaluma Valley Hospital and was later released with a citation to appear for DUI to a third party. Neither Zeigler or the man driving the pickup were injured in the collision.
