Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a security guard in the 1700 block of East Avenue J, Lancaster.   
 
On Monday, November 07, 2016 at approximately 7:04 PM, Lancaster Station deputies responded to a strip mall in response to a gunshot shot victim at the location. 
 
When deputies arrived they found the victim, male Hispanic, 21 years-old, seated in a car, which was parked in the parking lot of the strip mall, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. 
 
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
 
Homicide detectives have learned that the victim and another security guard were sitting in the second security guard’s car, when the victim was shot in the head.  It is unclear at this time if the victim shot himself or if the second security officer shot him. 
 
The victim’s gun was recovered at the scene.
 
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
