Traffic Alert for Race on Saturday

The police department would like to make everyone aware of heavy pedestrian traffic, and two temporary road closures for this Saturday, during the “D.A.R.E. to Run for BackStoppers” run. With over 260 people signed up for the event so far, please use caution between 9:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. The two road closures during that time will be on Mueller Lane, between the 3600 block and Saxtown Road. The other will be East Madison Street, between South Kossuth & East Laurel Street. Only residents who live in these areas will have access to these closed roads.

There are two routes to the run, which begins and ends at Liederkranz Park, and drivers are encouraged to use caution, and possibly find alternate routes during this time.

The 5K route is as follows:
South on Main St. to W. Madison St.
W. Madison St. to E. Madison St., and continuing straight till approximately ¼ mile out Urbana Road.

The 10K route is as follows:
S. Main to N. Monroe
N. Monroe to W. Mill
W. Mill to Lafayette
Lafayette to W. Laurel
W. Laurel to Veterans
Veterans to Saxtown
Saxtown down Mueller (approximately ¼ down Mueller)

The heaviest pedestrian traffic to cross Washington & Jefferson Avenues is expected to occur between 9:00 & 9:15 a.m.

If you happen to live on or close to the routes, feel free to encourage the participants along the way with cheering or motivational signs!
Also, the St. Louis County Police Department will be selling OFFICER BLAKE SNYDER shirts at the park, during the event. Even if you are not participating in the event, you are more than welcome to come down to the park and purchase a shirt for the benefit of Officer Snyder’s family.
