Update #LASD Missing Person, John Richard King Found in Hermit Falls Area of Chantry Flats

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have concluded their search for the missing hiker, 63-year-old John Richard King.

Detectives report his body was found in the water below Hermit Falls by the Antelope Valley Search and Rescue Team.  It appears Mr. King, while hiking, slipped and fell approximately 40 feet into the water.

Mr. King was pronounced dead on scene.

There appears to be no foul play, and the fall was accidental.

Mr. King’s family arrived on scene to positively identify his body.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner – Coroner arrived on scene to take possession of Mr. King’s body.

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 63-year-old John Richard King.

 

Mr. King, left his home in the city of La Puente on Thursday, October 27, 2016, to go hiking at Chantry Flats in the city of Sierra Madre, and did not return.  He is 5' 10" tall, 220 lbs., has brown eyes, short gray hair, and a gray beard. 

 

Mr. King’s vehicle was located in the parking area of Chantry Flats.

 

He is an avid hiker and his family is very concerned for his well-being.
