Two suspects arrested for attempt homicide after badly injuring a female victim during a robbery.

On October 18, 2016, at 1:00 a.m., a 55 year old female victim was returning to her residence on the 40400 block of Citrus Drive, after gambling at a casino in the south bay.  As the female approached her front door, she was struck in the back of the head multiple times by a hard object.  A male suspect wearing dark colored clothing then stole her purse, which contained cash, credit cards and identification.  The victim’s husband heard screaming and briefly gave chase to the suspect who fled on foot and then entered the front passenger seat of a tan colored sedan with paper plates.  Officers and paramedics immediately responded to the scene and the female was transported to a regional trauma center for medical aid.

After learning the victim had just returned from a casino, patrol officers contacted the business and responded to the location to view video surveillance.  Surveillance video showed a male, who was identified as Barry Heisner by security officers, watching the victim closely and following her around the casino floor.  When the victim exited the business, the video showed the male follow her out to the parking lot and then into a vehicle where the victim continues to be followed as she leaves the property.  Additional video obtained from a residence near the victim’s house also showed a similar sedan follow the victim and park a few houses away.  A male suspect in dark colored clothing is seen exiting the front passenger seat of the vehicle and walk to the victim’s driveway.  The male is then seen running back to the waiting sedan and the vehicle is last seen fleeing the area towards Fremont Blvd.

Detectives were called in and immediately began developing information on Barry Heisner.  Through their investigation it’s learned that Barry’s girlfriend, Darlene Marquis is the registered owner of a 1999 tan colored Toyota Camry, which matches the description of the vehicle Heisner was seen getting into at the casino and described by witnesses.

Ramey warrants were authored and approved for the arrest of Heisner and Marquis.  At approximately 10:30 p.m., on October 18, the Fremont Police Department SWAT Team located the two suspects driving the tan Toyota Camry registered to Marquis, in Pittsburg, California.  The two were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Fremont Police Department.  During the execution of a search warrant at Marquis’ residence in Port Costa, California, detectives recovered the victim’s stolen property including her wallet, ID card, credit cards and purse.  Additionally a copper mag light was recovered, which is believed to be the possible weapon used.  The two suspects were booked at the Santa Rita Jail.

Barry Heisner, 44, Port Costa, CA resident, was booked on charges of attempt homicide and robbery.

Darlene Marquis, 45 Port Costa, CA resident, was booked on charges of attempt homicide and robbery.

This press release was delayed due to collaboration with outside agencies on other similar investigations.
