Wednesday night, OSBI was requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Bartlesville. Upon arrival to 324 Edgewood, special agents learned that officers responded to a domestic assault and battery call at that residence and found William Clifford Cole (d.o.b. 3/9/1980) assaulting a woman at the residence. Cole then began assault one of the officers. That officer pulled his sidearm and shot Cole. Cole was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The officer and the female who had earlier been attacked by Cole were taken to the hospital. OSBI will not release the officer’s name unless he is arrested or charges are filed. Special agents are working to compile a comprehensive, written report to deliver to the district attorney. The district attorney will determine whether the shooting was justified. The officer was placed on paid, administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
