Major Injury Collision Press Release

Sunnyvale, CA - On 10/24/16 at approximately 1028 hours, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety police and fire personnel responded to the area of Fremont Ave. east of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Rd. on a reported major injury collision between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist. The bicyclist, a 67 year old female, sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was transported the hospital where she remains in critical condition. 

The driver of the involved vehicle, a white 4-door sedan, possibly a late model Acura, fled the scene after the collision at a high rate of speed.  The suspect vehicle traveled eastbound on Fremont Ave., then southbound on Wolfe Rd.  The driver was described as having dark hair in a ponytail.  The suspect vehicle will likely have damage to the front bumper and hood area. The suspect and suspect vehicle are still outstanding. 

The cause of this collision is currently under investigation by the Sunnyvale DPS Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).  Any witnesses to the traffic collision or anyone with information about the suspect vehicle are asked to contact MAIT Investigator Dzanh Le. (408) 730-7109
