Update #LASD Homicide Assist El Monte PD with Shooting Death Investigation 9200 Block of Flair Drive. El Monte.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing to assist El Monte Police Department personnel with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 25-year-old male Hispanic, while working at a fast food restaurant in the 9200 block of Flair Drive, El Monte.
Detectives have learned that at approximately 7:30 p.m. an armed, masked male entered the business and immediately jumped over the front service counter, where the victim was standing, in an apparent armed robbery attempt. The suspect turned toward the victim and fired at least one shot, which struck the victim in the upper torso. The suspect immediately jumped back over the counter and fled the location. He was last seen running north on Flair Drive and out of view.
El Monte Police Department personnel arrived on scene, discovered the victim, and immediately began to perform life saving measures. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived, and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect did not obtain any money or property from the business, and is still outstanding.
There is no additional information available at this time, and the investigation is on-going.
