The National City Police Department advises the community to beware of Clearing House and lottery scams.

The National City Police Department would like to advise the community to always be wary anytime someone representing themselves as a Clearing House or Lottery representative contacts you in any way (usually by telephone) soliciting money from you in order to claim a prize. These types of scammers use a variety of stories, such as:

Claiming you have won a prize, but you need to pay money to register to win by wiring money to them. – It’s a scam.

Asking you to pay the taxes on winnings up front by wiring money to an account. – It’s a scam.

Claiming a prize team with winnings is right around the corner, but you must first wire money to an account before they can deliver the prize to you. – It’s a scam.
