Detectives arrest a juvenile at Silverado High School for the assault of another student

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. Deputies and Detectives from the Victorville City Police Station responded to Silverado High School in reference to an assault that occurred on school grounds after regular school hours. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was approached by the suspect and asked if she would like to do homework with him. The two juveniles attend a class together. The victim agreed and followed the suspect behind some bushes on the outskirts of the school grounds, where the suspect assaulted the victim. A school official observed the suspect flee the scene and a few moments later located the victim. During the initial interview, detectives discovered the victim had a diminished mental capacity, speaking at a four to five year old age level. School officials confirmed that the victim was mentally disabled.
Through investigation, the suspect was identified and taken into custody later in the day. The suspect is currently on juvenile probation for a previous assault that closely mirrored this incident.
