Volunteers Needed to Rake on “Day of Caring” Oct. 22nd

<p><strong>WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI</strong> &ndash; United Way of Inner Wisconsin&rsquo;s Volunteer Center is seeking groups of volunteers to help rake yards for local elderly/disabled individuals on October 22nd during its &ldquo;Day of Caring&rdquo; event.&nbsp; Day of Caring will kick off at 8:00am at the Grand Rapids Lion&rsquo;s Club, 2411 36th St. S., Wisconsin Rapids.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The event will kick off with a FREE hot breakfast at 8:00am at the Grand Rapids Lion&rsquo;s Club.&nbsp; Afterwards, volunteers will receive their raking assignments and FREE t-shirts.&nbsp; We will also be collecting personal care items for Acorn Apartments, a local apartment building for disabled individuals.</p>

<p>Team leaders can pre-register their volunteer groups online by October 17 at www.uwiw.org (click on Day of Caring).&nbsp; Youth under the age of 18 will need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian (available at www.uwiw.org).&nbsp; Volunteers need to provide their own rakes, gloves, and transportation.&nbsp; Younger volunteers may need to be supervised by an adult. &nbsp;Home owners will provide the bags (if needed).</p>

<p>This year&rsquo;s t-shirt sponsors are the Wisconsin Rapids Noon Rotary Club and the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club.&nbsp; Breakfast sponsors include Ocean Spray, Quality Foods IGA and Wal-Mart.&nbsp; We also thank the Grand Rapids Lion&rsquo;s Club for the use of their facilities, providing volunteers and donating food, paper plates, napkins, utensils, etc.</p>
